Thunder (premiere)
A new work for singing bodies
Music, choreography, & direction by Tatyana Tenenbaum in collaboration with performers
Thunder examines the transformative power of the voice to enact multiple states of sensation, action and meaning. In this hour-long performance, six performers— Emily Moore, Laurel Snyder, Marisa Clementi, Li Cata, Ashley Handel and Tenenbaum, create and alter their environment through simultaneous tasks of singing and moving. With tuneful attention to the boundaries between chaos and order, they navigate complex landscapes of physicality and musical expression erupting in a newly embodied and resonant spectacle.
Design collaborators: Athena Kokoronis/Domestic Performance Agency (costumes) and Rebeca Medina (light design).
“I’ve seen a good amount of experimental dance, and heard a good amount of experimental music, but never experienced the two combined in quite the same way that Tatyana Tenenbaum pulled off in her new work Thunder.”
